Why do the hours of operation vary during academic terms and breaks?

The Fitness & Wellness Center strives to offer robust hours during academic terms for our campus community.  Adjusted hours are offered during breaks when we have a reduced amount of users on campus.  When setting building hours we have to consider our staffing capability, participation rates and overall facility costs.

Although this is an incredible free service and amenity that is included with our faculty/staff/retiree benefits, we realize that our offerings and hours may not accommodate everyone.  There is a Flexible Scheduling Policy geared to promote a campus culture where exercise and other healthy habits are valued and encouraged, College practice provides flexibility in staff workday scheduling to facilitate Faculty/Staff Wellness Program participation. The availability of flexible scheduling for Wellness Program activities varies based on the staffing needs of each College office and requires the approval of the supervisor and department head. Please note that the need to provide 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. office coverage may restrict the availability of flexible scheduling in some offices.

Can we allow for 24/7 access to the Fitness & Wellness Center?

The Fitness & Wellness Center does not provide 24/7 access due to increased risk, liability and insurance coverage.
