There are over a dozen countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea, each having their own unique diet. However, they all have a variety of foods, nutrients, and eating patterns in common and are the basis of what is now known as the Mediterranean Diet.  Based on decades of research, this evidence-based eating plan can help reduce your risk of developing heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, some cancers, and other chronic diseases.
